Solving the Rubik's Cube Strategy

Rubik's Cube: A how to on how to solve the Rubik's Cube. The instructions are listed in the video's description and below.

-Step 1: Daisy

Yellow core with 4 white sides, so make a daisy.

-Step 2: White Cross

Match white sides to the white core, and match the colours attached to the white side with their cores.

-Step 3: White corners

Find the white corners, then make sure they are on the bottom layer with the white facing outwards, not down. Match the colour attached to the white corner with it’s core. After this you need to turn it away, bring the corner down, and then turn the white back and turn it up.

-Step 4: Middle layer

Turn the Rubik's Cube upside down so that the white is now facing the bottom. Find any top sides without yellows attached, they belong to the middle layer.

The formula is:

If the top side needs to go down and left it will be:

Top Anti-clockwise 90°, Left Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°,  Left Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°, Turn whole Cube Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°

If the top side needs to go down and right it will be:

Top Clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°, Turn whole Cube Clockwise 90°, Left Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°, Left Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°

-Step 5: Yellow Cross 

~Step 5.1 Bottom right half as you face cube, step can be repeated until you get right half of the cross:

Front layer Clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°

~Step 5.2 With the half cross in the bottom right, you are ready for this step:

Front two layers Clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Top Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Top Anti-clockwise 90°

-Step 6: Placing the Yellow corner

If the two corners need swapping on the same side, turn the cube in your hand so that the sides that need swapping is on your right hand side:

Front layer Clockwise 90°, Bottom layer Clockwise 90°, Front layer 180°, Bottom 180° Front layer 180°, Bottom layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°

Top layer Anti-clockwise 90°

Front layer Clockwise 90°, Bottom layer Clockwise 90°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer 180°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°

If the two corners that need swapping are diagonally:

Front layer Clockwise 90°, Bottom layer Clockwise 90°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer 180°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°

Top layer 180°

Front layer Clockwise 90°, Bottom layer Clockwise 90°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer 180°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°

-Step 7: Yellow corner positioning

Position the corner that needs twisting to the top of the front layer (as it’s facing you), top right corner (bottom right corner as you look down from above).

To twist it clockwise:

Right Clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°,Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Clockwise 90°

Then bring the next corner that needs twisting to the same place, top of the front layer (as it’s facing you), top right corner (bottom right corner as you look down from above).

Do not turn the Rubik's Cube in your hand, only turn the top layer.

To twist it anti-clockwise:

Front Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Front layer Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Front Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°

-Step 8: Finishing up

If you have a finished side, turn that side in your hand to face the left. If there is no finished side, don’t worry. Follow the below:

Right 180°, Bottom layer Anti-clockwise 90°, Left Anti-clockwise 90°, Right Clockwise 90°, Top layer 180°, Left Clockwise 90°, Right Anti-clockwise 90°, Front layer 180°, Bottom layer Clockwise 90°, Right 180°

Repeat until finished.
